What is identity? Is it defined by how we perceive ourselves or how others perceive us? Does it stem from our culture, upbringing, environment, personal style, or the languages we speak? In our multicultural landscape, we adapt, create, and often redefine identities. This exhibition invites you to explore these complex themes of identity and belonging. It goes beyond visual representation, encouraging a deeper understanding of how our personal stories shape our authentic expressions in art.

"American Artist GRANITE Unveils First Exhibition in London 'HANDS' at 54 The Gallery"
Art Exhibition: "HANDS" – an exhibition of original sculptures by GRANITE
54 The Gallery presents "HANDS," an innovative art exhibition showcasing incredible sculptures crafted from recycled American steel railroad spikes, exploring the profound power of hand gestures. The exhibition will open on Tuesday 12th of November 2024 and run through Sunday 17th November 2024.
"HANDS" brings together the works of GRANITE, an American artist first time exhibiting in the UK, who transforms discarded materials into expressive art that embodies communication, connection, and creativity. Each piece reflects the universal language of hand gestures, highlighting their ability to convey emotion and intention without words.
The exhibition features remarkable sculptures, each uniquely designed to capture the essence of gestures ranging from greeting and farewell to empathy and strength. Through their artistry, the creators invite viewers to reflect on how gestures shape our interactions and influence our relationships.
"I believe that art can transcend language barriers," said GRANITE. "These sculptures are not just representations of hands but are a testament to the power of non-verbal communication in our daily lives."
The theme of "Hands" resonates in a world that increasingly relies on technology and digital interactions. This exhibition encourages reflection on the irreplaceable value of human touch and the connections forged through our hands. Each artwork tells a story, inviting visitors to consider their own experiences and the universal language of touch.

Thriving comes from finding the extra ingredients which give life meaning and allow a person to grow. Creative thriving can be cultivated from living a more expansive existence. Carving out time to play and explore, and encouraging a sense of awe in the world around us.
Keziah and Miranda both endeavour to approach their work with childlike wonder, focussing on, play and the enjoyment of the process. They explore visual rhythms, fluidity and creating a sense of movement. "We both have a close relationship with our process, which is what makes our work sing so well together.”

Mania, an artist and adult art educator holding an MA in Museology from UCL, boasts a rich career spanning over five decades.
With a passion for nurturing artistic expression, she has been instrumental in shaping the creative journeys of countless adult individuals since 2006, delivering engaging classes in Art Appreciation and Drawing & Painting across Croydon and Bromley. Her classes consistently draw full enrolment, a testament to her dynamic teaching approach and ability to inspire.
Before her tenure as an educator, Mania held leadership roles as Head of Art & Design in prestigious secondary schools throughout London and Kent. Her dedication to art extends beyond the classroom, as evidenced by her participation in renowned exhibitions such as the Seaside Gallery USA Miniature Show 2012 and the Abstract Expressionist show at MOMA in New York in 2018.
Each year, Mania invites the public to her Montsale Studio Open Day, an opportunity to witness her artistic process first hand.
This year marks a significant milestone as she celebrates 50 years of painting and teaching with a solo art show scheduled from August 12th to 18th 2024, at 54 The Gallery in Mayfair. Drinks with the artist on Wednesday 14th, Thursday 15th & Friday 16th August from 5 to 7 pm.
Mania's artistic vision is characterized by a profound exploration of nature and memory, captured with luminous strokes of paint on linen or through monotype water-based "prints" on paper.
From the tranquil depths of the sea to the vibrant hues of Monet's Garden in Giverny, her works evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia. Each piece is a testament to her originality, featuring unique colour palettes and limited editions that reflect her ongoing evolution as an artist.
Inspired by the ebb and flow of life, Mania's creations encapsulate the essence of the present moment, capturing fleeting impressions with timeless grace. Through her art, she invites viewers to embark on a journey of introspection, where memories intertwine with imagination, and the beauty of existence is revealed in every brushstroke.

Ben Wardle
Ben lives in Snape, Suffolk and has been lucky enough to spend the last 20yrs of his working life on a farm exploring some of the most beautiful countryside East Anglia has to offer. Bens father and grandfather were both talented artists and he grew up surrounded by painting and creativity. He has become an established East Anglian landscape artist whose work has sold to collectors worldwide. His paintings are not just of what he sees in his local landscapes, but how he feels when he is in them. He has an MA in Fine Art, using the opportunity to analyse his practice. Being in wild spaces has a tremendous effect on our mental health, and Ben uses his practice to investigate this psychological/ environmental link. He is further inspired by the research of Environmental Philosopher Glenn Albrecht, ‘Deep’ Ecology, and the writings of Roger Deakin, Robert Macfarlane and all the other creatives who enrich the East Anglian art scene and promote a more positive, healthy future for ourselves and our environment.
